First Thoughts

As soon as I got my hands on the iPad Mini, I could feel the difference in weight. With a 7.9 inch display, the iPad Mini does in fact mark a change of phase from Apple and frankly it’s about time.

Display and Operating System

The iPad Mini features 7.9 inch display screen and has a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels (same as the iPad 2). I find this to be a rather good feature because since it has the same resolution as an iPad 2, it should have no problem running any apps made for the iPad. I am just glad that Apple did not restrict a certain genre of apps for the iPad Mini but rather made the iPad Mini in such a way that its smaller size doesn’t compromise the ability to use only specific apps from the app store.

Multitasking and Graphics

The iPad Mini features a dual core A5 processor which I found to be rather sleek and fast when it comes to multitasking. Browsing speed is also a plus point here. As for graphics, the dual core PowerVR SGX543MP2 chip is there to save the day. I managed to get my hands on some graphic hungry games from the App Store such as Dead Space 2 and found it to be able to run properly without lagging. I am quite satisfied with the performance overall.

Final Thoughts

The iPad Mini is more of a beginner’s toy in the tablet world if you ask me. I find it suitable for bookworms due to its size and clarity. However there’s no underestimating the iPad Mini here. This small powerhouse is indeed a must own gadget I believe. All in all, this change of phase from Apple has produced more fans than ever and me not being excluded!
